More Shout

P. Sterling Stuckey said it best in "Reflections on the Scholarship of African Origins and Influence in American Slavery", "The presence of the Ring Shout and the singing of Spirituals, both fundamental to the question of the degree to which slaves were Christianized, which remains the foremost issue in scholarship on slavery."

The Ring Shout was brought over from Africa which means it must have had deep roots in religion or traditions from over there. This was lost over generations of slaves making it so the Ring Shout was paired with Christian beliefs. It's believed that the Ring Shout is one of the many things that made it so many African slaves became Christian.
